Tired of computer viruses choking the life out of your time online?
A few simple tips may save you from the sinking feeling of getting a computer virus.
First thing I would recommend it getting some anti-virus software. Microsoft has a free anti-virus called Microsoft Security Essentials. It is a good over all software for the basic user.
Next I would suggest that you never click on anything that randomly pops up on your PC saying you may be infected. Those are typically rogue websites that try to install software by having you click on them. Even if you click the X in the corner it will still install. Your best bet is to either go into the task manager and shut down the link (internet explorer or Firefox) or just power off your computer and restart. This will stop it only if you have not yet clicked on it to allow it.
The only other real threats to your PC is through emails, and downloads. If you do not download "free" software or pirated stuff from the internet that only leaves email. With email the only real threat is through attachments. These attachment may be in the form of a movie, cartoon, or joke someone may be sending you. Be very cautions about what you look at!!! Even people you know may be sending you a virus without knowing it. They may have thought that cartoon was the funniest thing ever, so they send it to you... Only they don't have Anti-virus software to warn them.
So always be careful. These few tips will save you a ton of frustration as well as money you would need to spend to have someone like me fix it.
